Carbon Steel 1010-1015-1018-1022-1038-1045-10B21 – Cold Headed Fasteners

Fastco Industries has complete cold forming manufacturing capabilities to produce carbon steel cold headed studs, rivets, pins, bolts, screws, and specials to your exact specifications. The cold heading process can hold extremely tight tolerances. In addition, we manufacture parts from prototype through production.

The process of cold forming does not cut any material away in order to form the new part. Consequently, there is a minimal amount of material waste for high efficiency which lowers the overall cost of raw materials.

In addition to being a cost-effective and low-waste process, cold heading produces stronger fasteners because it does not cut the grain of the material. It is also a high-speed process with machines that can run up to 200 parts per minute.

Cold headed fasteners come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. At Fastco, we specialize in steel forming, but parts can also be cold headed from alternate materials such as aluminum, bronze, or copper.

We produce parts made out of low, medium, and high carbon steel, from 1010 to 10B21 to 1045 material. Read more details on these materials below.

    • Carbon Steel 1010

Carbon steel 1010 is a plain carbon steel with 0.10% carbon content. This steel has relatively low strength but it can be quenched and tempered to increase strength.

    • Carbon Steel 1045

Carbon steel 1045 is medium tensile steel supplied in the black hot rolled or normalized condition. It exhibits good weldability, good machinability, and high strength and impact properties to be used in various industrial applications. It is used extensively in induction hardening applications to enhance stud fasteners, for example.

    • Carbon Steel 10B21

Carbon steel 10B21 is an alloy of iron and carbon and other elements. Because of its high tensile strength and low cost, it is a major component used in buildings, infrastructure, tools, ships, automobiles, machines, and appliances.
