Since 1970, Fastco Industries has been leading manufacturer of cold headed fasteners. We manufacture bolts, pins, rivets, studs, screws, and more for many industries. As an IATF 16949:2016 certified company, Fastco has been a long-time automotive supplier. Since we manufacture 80% of our tooling in-house, we can turn around prototypes and samples rapidly for industrial, heavy equipment, and construction industries.
What is Cold Heading?
Cold heading, also called cold forming, is a cost-effective and efficient process to produce both standard parts, such as bolts, screws, rivets, and pins, as well as custom fasteners. This technology has been in existence for over 150 years. The process uses a series of dies and punches to form steel coils into rivets, studs, bolts, and other male fasteners. Cold heading allows for holding tight tolerances and is a bulk-manufacturing process. As a result, we specialize in high-volume production.

Advantages of Cold Heading
Cold heading is a method of forming metal in progressive steps into net-shaped or near net-shaped parts.
- The grain is not cut in the process. The grain flows through the contour of the part resulting in a stronger part compared to a cut grain.
- Very accurate control of dimensions: Tolerances of ±.025mm on contained diameters and ±.125mm on most lengths.
- High speed production – up to 200 parts per minute
